Or just jettison third-party AV and save yourself a lot of hassle in general. If you haven't already, add exclusions in Avast for the folder where Reflect is installed, Reflect.exe, ReflectBin.exe (I think those are the only two that I've seen recommended), and possibly the folder where your backups are being stored. The only step that CBT shortens (down to zero) is the "Looking for changes" step. Is this a problem that will not be there when the new 'Macrium Image Guardian' is available in Ver 7.1 ? Sorry for the long PostĮven if CBT weren't being used, it wouldn't cause backup times to jump from 15 minutes to 12+ hours. Macrium state the MRCBT Driver is "Implemented as a kernel mode filter driver, sitting below the NTFS file system driver, MRCBT is able to intercept all I/O requests to the logical volume and maintain a record of which blocks have changed." If this is the case shouldn't it not be circumvented by the AV software and therefore CBT should not be impacted by the AV Scan being run ? 4. Is there a quick way to re-build the MRCBT tracking file or fix corruptions ? 3. Is the MRCBT tracking file meant to be protected from being deleted or corrupted by Anti-virus software such as Avast. Does/should the 'Boottime AV scan' invalidate the 'MRCBT tracking file' hence killing the MRCBT Functionality at the next backup ? 2. BTW: I have ensured CBT is running by executing the 'MrCbtTools.exe' to re-install the Driver. This 'Boottime AV scan' is run at DOS level before Windows has started. The only event that had been different to normal is that I allowed a 'Boottime AV scan' to be performed. (The ' CBT Init Success' message does not now appear.) The CBT will not work until I have completed a Full backup, as in the baseline needs to be set again for the 'MRCBT tracking file' to enable improvment of the backup time. I have cancelled the backup and investigated the issue and reached the following conclusions: CBT and/or the 'MRCBT tracking file' appears to have been 'killed' at some point as the CBT status messages that appear during the Backup run are not there. The backup has been using CBT and performing in 15-30 mins, suddenly it is now taking 12 hours+ to reach the stage where it estimates that a further100+ hours are needed to complete. This has been working perfectly each day for the last 60 days. I also run Avast Free The Schedule has been set up to perform Incremental backups for ever. I have Macrium V installed on a Windows 7.0 Sp1 PC.
